Abbie McMillan
ICU Nurse
Qualifications:
- BSc(Hons)
- CertVNECC
- RVN
Abbie graduated with First Class Honours from the University of Bristol in 2020 and returned home to the Cayman Islands during the covid-19 pandemic, where she became Head Veterinary Nurse of a general practice in September 2020. With a passion for Emergency and Critical Care that was ignited on her first student placement in the Langford Intensive Care Unit in 2018, Abbie moved on to an exclusively emergency and out-of-hours role in the West Midlands in November 2021. After gaining more experience, Abbie joined our ICU team in May 2023, achieving her certificate in Emergency and Critical Care Nursing from VetsNow November of the same year.
Abbie enjoys emergency and critical care because of the complexity and variety of her caseload, the fast-paced environment of the ICU, and most of all the one-to-one time she spends caring for patients.
Outside of work, Abbie enjoys meditative hobbies to balance the intensity of her role, usually with her rescue cat, Oswald, on her lap.
