Saffron Peterson
Laboratory PCA
Saffron graduated from the University of Brighton in 2019 with a BSc Honors degree in Human and environmental sciences where she began her interest in antibiotic resistance within veterinary and environmental sciences. She then joined Birkbeck University studying a masters in microbiology, where she is continuing her research into antibiotic resistance. With this knowledge she hopes to bring her skills to the laboratory at BVS where she is passionate about giving the best service to the patients residing at the hospital and is excited to continually improve these services.
Her previous background with animals started at the age of 18 where she worked for a Kennels and Cattery for 5 years, caring for a wide range of animals from holiday boarders to rescue animals from Romania and later expanded with her own business that ran for 4 years caring for animals in the comfort and familiarity of their own home. She has volunteered abroad caring for sick native animals in Australia, later volunteering in South Africa monitoring and mapping herds of kudu, and other native South African fauna.
She moved to Bristol three years ago and loves living in the city, and since has worked for private scientific companies as a laboratory scientist, but wanted to find a role that was solely aligned with her passions within veterinary sciences/animal care and has since joined us at BVS as the laboratory patient care assistant.
